Job Overview:
The Conference Technician position is a short-term contract role that involves providing essential audio-visual technical support for meetings and conferences held at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok during the year 202
  • The individual contractor will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Conference Management Unit and is expected to perform tasks efficiently and in a timely manner throughout the meeting periods. This role is crucial for ensuring that all audio-visual equipment is properly installed, operated, and maintained, contributing to the success of various conferences and meetings organized by the UN.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Conference Technician include:
  • Assisting in the installation, setup, and operation of all audio and visual equipment during meetings and events at UNCC.
  • Ensuring proper operation and maintenance of all audio and visual equipment and systems in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Operating, installing, assembling, repairing, and servicing simultaneous interpretation equipment, video camera equipment, computers, public address systems, and digital signage systems.
  • Configuring and operating online streaming services to facilitate virtual participation in meetings.
  • Performing other related duties as required to support the smooth execution of conferences and meetings.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Conference Technician position include a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience. Additionally, a minimum of three years of responsible experience in conference support, sound engineering, electrical engineering, information technology, or related areas is required. If the candidate has graduated with a first-level university degree, only one year of experience is necessary. Experience in organizing virtual or hybrid meetings is also required, along with experience in streaming audio and video files over the internet. Knowledge of installing and upgrading software applications is desirable, as is experience in servicing meetings organized by the UN or other organizations. Familiarity with online meeting platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom is also desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background needed for the Conference Technician position includes at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with a first-level university degree may be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
