Job Overview:
The Conference Services Assistant will provide essential support for conference planning and coordination at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok for the year 202
  • This role involves working under the supervision of the Chief of the Conference Management Unit, ensuring that meetings and conferences are executed smoothly and efficiently. The individual contractor will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include providing conference room support services, assisting Event Managers in the preparation and servicing of Intergovernmental Meetings (IGM), and managing participant registration and badging processes. The role requires a proactive approach to monitor catering services and ensure they meet client requests, as well as performing additional duties as needed. The position is critical for maintaining the high standards expected at UN conferences and ensuring that all logistical aspects are handled professionally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Conference Services Assistant include:
  • Providing comprehensive conference room support services to participants attending meetings.
  • Assisting Event Managers in the planning, preparation, and servicing of Intergovernmental Meetings (IGM) in collaboration with relevant ESCAP Divisions.
  • Managing the registration and badging process for participants to ensure smooth entry and participation in meetings.
  • Monitoring and coordinating catering services to ensure they align with client requests and preferences.
  • Performing other related duties as required to support the overall success of the meetings and conferences.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience. Additionally, a minimum of three years of responsible experience in conference management, administration, logistics, or related areas is required. If the candidate holds a first-level university degree, only one year of experience is necessary. Experience in planning and organizing conferences and meetings is desirable, as is proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with virtual meeting platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree may substitute for two years of required experience, indicating that higher education is valued and can enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The role requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in conference management, administration, logistics, or related fields.
