Job Overview: The Field Coordinator in Gedaref will oversee the operations of the Gedaref Office, developing activities in response to significant population displacements from neighboring states. Acting as the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director by delegation, the Field Coordinator will propose and implement a regional strategy based on the geopolitical and humanitarian context. This role involves ensuring that projects align with Solidarités International's charter and comply with internal and contractual procedures. The Field Coordinator will mobilize necessary resources for program implementation and supervise their management while ensuring the safety of on-site teams. The position is critical in assessing the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security situation in Gedaref and engaging with local authorities to obtain necessary authorizations for activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess the security situation in Gedaref and map local actors influencing its evolution.
Engage in negotiations with authorities to secure all necessary authorizations for developing activities at local and national levels.
Design a response strategy for Gedaref, considering existing budgets and potential new proposals.
Establish the necessary human resources setup and operational concept.
Identify and secure suitable premises for operations.
Represent the Country Director in local negotiations with authorities, partners, UN, and donors.
Reinforce the organization's negotiation and representation capacity with local authorities, UN, partners, and donors.
Finalize the HR and logistics setup of the Gedaref base to enhance operational capacities.
Obtain all necessary authorizations from local authorities to ensure intervention capabilities in Gedaref. 1
Reconfirm the strategy for the base in alignment with the mission's overall strategy.
A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
0-2 years of experience in a similar position.
Strong technical skills in security and access management, rapid needs assessment, and familiarity with the Sudanese context.
Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field, which may include humanitarian response, international cooperation, development studies, or political sciences. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the geopolitical landscape in which SI operates.
Experience: The position requires 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years in a similar role. This level of experience is necessary to navigate the challenges of working in a conflict-affected area and to effectively manage the responsibilities of the Field Coordinator role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is advantageous, while knowledge of French is considered an asset. These language skills are crucial for effective communication with local authorities, partners, and beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: The position is a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, subject to funding availability. The starting salary is EUR 3080 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2800 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the assignment location. During the assignment, a break system is implemented, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates also receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Gedaref are described as comfortable, with access to good quality internet and modern amenities, although leisure options are limited.
