Job Overview: The consultant will work closely with the Quality Assurance: Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Team to ensure alignment with regulatory and organizational standards. The consultancy will last for 3 months, requiring an estimated commitment of 40 hours per week. Key milestones include the inception report, training material finalization, end-to-end process mapping, staff training, and the final report. The consultant will primarily work remotely but may need to visit UNFPA offices for key meetings and workshops. The role involves evaluating and mapping the Supply ChainManagement Unit's (SCMU) existing processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements, ultimately aiming to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review Existing Processes: Conduct detailed reviews of all current processes across various departments, analyze end-to-end processes to identify redundancies and areas for improvement, and redesign workflows to enhance efficiency.
Develop Process Maps: Create detailed process maps for one or two pre-defined pilot functions, illustrating current workflows and proposed changes.
Introduce Process Mapping Templates: Implement Lean and Six Sigma-based industry standard tools and templates for SCMU.
Training and Capacity Building: Train nominated staff members in process mapping techniques and familiarize them with templates.
Deliverables include an inception report, detailed process review report, developed process maps, process mapping templates, training materials, and a final report summarizing findings and recommendations.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Process Mapping Specialist, Lean Six Sigma, or Project Management Professional (PMP).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in process mapping software (e.g., Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart), project management, and workflow management.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and presenting findings.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for accuracy in mapping processes.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in business administration, supply chain management, information management, or a related field. Additional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma or PMP are highly desirable, indicating a strong foundation in process management and improvement methodologies.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in process improvement or business analysis is required. Candidates should have proficiency in business process mapping, process optimization, and creating process diagrams. Experience in integrating digital solutions into re-engineered processes, particularly within international organizations or supply chain contexts, is an asset. Previous experience in similar projects, especially involving capacity building, is preferred.
