Job Overview: The Team Lead, ITG Project Management and Support is responsible for leading the ITG Project Management and Support team under the supervision of the Deputy ChiefInformation Officer. This role is crucial for ensuring the timely and organized delivery of ITG outputs, which includes managing project planning, resource allocation, and monitoring project progress. The Team Lead will also oversee talent management, supplier management, and budgeting processes, ensuring that all ITG projects align with organizational goals. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to maintain high standards in project delivery and financial oversight, ultimately contributing to the overall strategic goals of the ITG unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Management and Mentorship: Manage and mentor the ITG Project Management and Support team, establishing objectives and performance measurements. Provide guidance and set priorities while fostering a collaborative work environment. Contribute to performance evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Project Management, Monitoring, and Oversight: Oversee the portfolio of IT projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Manage project planning, resource allocation, and scheduling, while monitoring project progress and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Provide regular updates to the Deputy CIO on project risks and overall progress.
Coordination of Support Services: Collaborate with the CIO and Deputy CIO to prioritize talent development and coordinate recruitment and learning strategies. Drive the budget management process, ensuring alignment with ITG’s goals and standards. Develop procurement strategies and manage vendor relationships, ensuring adherence to procurement processes.
Knowledge Management: Facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices across ITG functions. Monitor the effectiveness of IT policies and propose innovations for improvement. Ensure all ITG policies are regularly reviewed and updated in alignment with organizational objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Resource Management, Project Management, or a related field. A first-level University degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) may be accepted with additional relevant work experience. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an operational role is required, with at least 2 years of PMO experience. Team management experience and demonstrated experience in project planning, procurement, supplier management, and financial management are essential. PRINCE2® Foundation or equivalent certification is an asset, along with strong analytical skills and experience in process improvement projects.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required. Alternatively, a first-level University degree with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The educational background should be aligned with business administration, resource management, or project management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an operational role, with exposure to HR, procurement, and financial processes. Within these 5 years, at least 2 years of experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in team management, project planning, procurement, supplier management, and financial management.
Languages: Full working knowledge of English is essential for this position. Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the organization.
Additional Notes: The contract type is IICA (International Individual Contractor Agreement) at level IICA-2 (ICA-10). The duration of the contract is ongoing, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
