Job Overview: The Food & Beverage Logistics Supervisor will play a crucial role in the Hospitality Department at CIMMYT’s headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City. The primary objective of this position is to plan, organize, and supervise logistics related to the Food & Beverage area, ensuring compliance with certification processes such as Distintivo H, Punto Limpio, and Distintivo M. The supervisor will be responsible for maintaining established quality standards and providing first-class service to both employees and customers. This role requires a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional who can effectively manage various aspects of food and beverage logistics, including cleanliness, staff training, inventory management, and supplier coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Food & Beverage Logistics Supervisor will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: supervising the cleanliness of all areas related to food and beverage, including kitchens, dining rooms, and storage areas; ensuring compliance with Distintivo H and Punto Limpio guidelines; training staff on the proper use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE); overseeing the completion of cleaning logs and documentation for certification renewal; updating cleaning and warehouse processes; managing the storage and dosing of cleaning chemicals; supervising the operation of dishwashing machines; overseeing cleaning supply requisitions; managing deep-cleaning processes; assisting with cashier duties; coordinating auxiliary service staff; organizing staff activities; overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance; monitoring temperature logs for storage units; managing warehouse inventory; ensuring supplier requisitions match invoices; and conducting direct purchases from retailers as needed.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a degree in Gastronomy or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience in warehouse management, purchase orders, and inventory control is required. The candidate should also have experience in industrial kitchen cleaning, handling cleaning chemicals, and PPE. Strong personnel management skills are essential, along with proficiency in English at a B2 – C1 level. Knowledge of Distintivo H implementation and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are also required. Experience using Point of Sale systems such as Infocaja or SoftRest is preferred. The candidate must be available for rotating shifts and flexible schedules and must hold a valid driver’s license.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a degree in Gastronomy or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the supervisor has the necessary knowledge and skills to manage food and beverage logistics effectively, particularly in relation to hygiene standards and food safety protocols.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse management, purchase orders, and inventory control is required. This experience should be verifiable and demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage logistics effectively in a food and beverage context. Additionally, experience in industrial kitchen cleaning and handling cleaning chemicals is necessary to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
Languages: Proficiency in English at a B2 – C1 level is mandatory for this position. This level of English proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external suppliers. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package that includes support for continuous professional development. In addition to the provisions of Mexican Labor Law, the benefits package includes a year-end bonus equivalent to 40 days of salary, a vacation premium of 56%, life and medical insurance, supermarket coupons, a savings fund, and social benefits provided by the Mexican government (IMSS, SAR / Infonavit).
