Job Overview: The Finance Manager at WWF plays a crucial role in directing the institutional budgeting and analysis functions. This position is responsible for generating and consolidating the annual operating and fundraising budgets, revising budget projections throughout the year, and regularly analyzing and interpreting financial performance. The Finance Manager will propose, implement, and manage both short- and long-term budgeting and analytical strategies to ensure the financial health of the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of financial performance indicators and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to support WWF's mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will oversee the institutional operating budget and contingency, setting financial standards and ensuring adherence through strategic training and guidance. This includes directing the annual budget development and submission process, advising non-program managers, and collaborating with senior leadership to create a consolidated operating budget. The role involves developing ad-hoc budgeting models, reports, and forecasts, conducting monthly institutional financial analysis, and presenting financial performance data and risk analysis to the Executive team for decision-making. Additionally, the Finance Manager will collaborate with the Fundraising Steering Committee and Finance team to create multi-year fundraising and expense forecasts, assist in capital campaign feasibility studies, and oversee collaborations between the Finance and People and Culture teams on the preparation of the annual compensation program and fringe benefits budgets. The position also requires developing and interpreting institutional operational performance trend analysis, formulating strategies for cost savings, and directing the consolidation of financial performance data for Board and Executive Committee presentations. The Finance Manager will develop policies and procedures for budgeting and financial management, supervise Financial Analysts, and collaborate with the Financial Operations Lead to identify and propose optimization solutions for business process inefficiencies within the Finance department.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, with a Master’s Degree preferred. A minimum of eight years of experience in accounting, budgeting, financial management, and financial reporting systems is critical. In-depth knowledge of Not-For-Profit Financial Management and Accounting is preferred. The ideal candidate should have excellent people management skills, strong writing and verbal communication abilities, and the capacity to manage complex assignments and projects. Proficiency in spreadsheets, complex formulas, and macros is essential, along with knowledge of Workday Financials and Workday Adaptive being a plus. Candidates should demonstrate strong financial management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required for this position, with a Master’s Degree being preferred. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective financial management and analysis within a non-profit organization.
Experience: The Finance Manager position requires at least eight years of relevant experience in accounting, budgeting, financial management, and financial reporting systems.
