Job Overview:
The Deputy Country Director - Operations plays a critical role in overseeing the operational aspects of the organization's programs in Syria. The Deputy Country Director will work closely with the Country Director to implement the organization's strategic objectives and ensure that programs are delivered effectively and efficiently. The Deputy Country Director will also be responsible for resource management, including budgeting and financial oversight, to ensure that operations are sustainable and aligned with the organization's mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization's programs in Syria, ensuring that they are implemented in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Country Director to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the organization's overall mission and objectives.
  • Manage and supervise program staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, local partners, and other NGOs, to facilitate collaboration and enhance program effectiveness.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for operational activities, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Represent the organization at meetings and forums, advocating for the needs of the communities served and promoting the organization's mission.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and reports for donors and other stakeholders, highlighting the impact of the organization's work.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in operational management within the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on results and impact.
  • Knowledge of the local context and challenges in Syria, including an understanding of the humanitarian landscape.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, or business administration is required. A master's degree is preferred and may be advantageous for candidates seeking to demonstrate advanced knowledge and expertise in operational management.

Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in operational management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience in a leadership role is essential, with a proven track record of managing complex programs and teams in challenging environments.

Languages:
