Job Overview: The Corporate Real Estate Services Senior Associate will play a crucial role within the Corporate Real Estate Group, which is part of the Administrative Services Division (BDA/ACP). This position involves managing the IDB Group’s corporate facilities, which include three office buildings in downtown Washington, D.C., a Records Center in Ashburn, Virginia, and numerous Country Offices across Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. The Senior Associate will report directly to the Head of the Corporate Real Estate Group and will be responsible for overseeing a team of project managers and technical specialists, ensuring effective coordination with external vendors. The role requires a proactive approach to space planning and facility management, with a focus on meeting the needs of various departments while adhering to institutional standards and best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Associate will be tasked with performing moderately complex research analyses and advisory activities related to space planning and usage across the IDB Group’s facilities. Key responsibilities include assessing departmental needs, maintaining accurate data, and developing solutions to meet space requirements. The role involves monitoring compliance with building codes and best practices, implementing the IDB Group's Corporate Real Estate Approach (CREA), and creating presentations for various audiences, including Senior Management. The Senior Associate will also determine project scopes, estimate costs and timelines, and mobilize resources for HQ projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery. Additional duties include conducting peer reviews of design documents, project value engineering, monitoring construction activities, and collaborating with various departments to enhance project performance.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in fields such as Architecture, Architectural Science, Urban Design, Sustainable Architecture, or Architecture Engineering. A minimum of six years of relevant experience in development, design, and construction is required, with a strong understanding of facilities operations management, particularly in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean. Candidates should have deep knowledge of space planning, project management, budgeting, and contract administration, as well as experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with LEED, WELL, and ADA standards. Experience in corporate real estate functions and change management is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Architecture, Architectural Science, Urban Design, Sustainable Architecture, or Architecture Engineering. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of corporate real estate services and facility management.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least six years of practical experience in the development, design, and construction sectors, with a focus on facilities operations management. This experience should ideally include work in Latin America and the Caribbean, providing the candidate with a nuanced understanding of the regional context and challenges.
Languages: Proficiency in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse IDB Group environment.
Additional Notes: The position offers an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
