Job Overview: The Grants Specialist position is integral to the consortium management structure for the 'Pathways to Protection' (P2P) project, which is a collaborative effort involving the Danish Refugee Council, Danish Red Cross, and The International Detention Coalition. The role is designed to ensure effective management of donor-funded grants, requiring the Grants Specialist to lead the development of high-quality proposals and project reports, manage the full grant lifecycle, and ensure compliance with donor regulations. The position demands a proactive approach to communication and collaboration, as well as a commitment to maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency in grant management. The Grants Specialist will also contribute to strategic discussions regarding programmatic direction and future funding opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Grants Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: acting as the primary point of contact for grant-related coordination with consortium members; facilitating regular meetings to track grant deliverables and challenges; leading the preparation and review of donor reports; maintaining an organized filing system for grant documentation; developing high-quality concept notes and proposals; managing the proposal development process; conducting quality reviews of proposals; and maintaining a pipeline of funding opportunities. The role also involves supporting the development of a comprehensive archiving and documentation system for grant-related information, ensuring transparency and accessibility for audits and reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in international development, business administration, public policy, or a related field. They should have proven experience in leading proposal development and securing institutional donor funding, as well as demonstrated ability to manage complex donor compliance requirements. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in grant management systems, excellent project management skills, and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Full professional proficiency in English is required, while proficiency in Arabic and/or French is highly desirable.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required for this position. A master’s degree in a related field is preferred, which would enhance the candidate's qualifications and understanding of the complexities involved in grants management within the humanitarian sector.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in grants management within the humanitarian or development sector is required, preferably within an international NGO. This experience should include a strong track record of leading proposal development and successfully securing funding from institutional donors.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory for this role. Proficiency in Arabic and/or French is considered highly desirable, as it would facilitate communication and collaboration within diverse teams and with various stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position offers a contract length of 12 months and is classified as a non-management level 2 role. The designation of the duty station is unaccompanied/family duty station, indicating that the position may involve specific living arrangements for employees.
