Job Overview:
The Graphic Designer position is crucial for the UNCT in Nepal as it involves the complete design and layout of the UNCT Annual Results Report. This report is a vital communication tool that highlights the contributions of the UN system to Nepal’s sustainable development agenda. The designer will be responsible for creating high-quality infographics and charts that effectively represent key data points, ensuring that the report is both engaging and visually appealing. The role requires a strong understanding of UN branding guidelines and the ability to produce web-optimized and print-ready versions of the report. The designer will collaborate closely with the RCO communications team to finalize designs and will be expected to deliver final files in editable formats such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. The position is expected to last from 1 March 2025 to 31 March 2025, during which the designer will also be required to make revisions based on feedback from the team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Graphic Designer include:
  • Completing the design and layout of the UNCT Annual Results Report.
  • Creating high-quality infographics and charts for key data points.
  • Producing web-optimized and print-ready versions of the report.
  • Delivering source files in relevant formats such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Conducting up to three rounds of revisions based on feedback from the RCO team.
  • Developing visually compelling and professionally designed publication materials and reports.
  • Ensuring consistency in layout, typography, and branding across all pages of the report.
  • Enhancing the visual representation of complex data using infographics, charts, and tables.
  • Formatting graphs, tables, and images in accordance with UNCT brand guidelines. 1
  • Collaborating with the RCO communications team to finalize designs and ensure the report meets its objectives. 1
  • Delivering final files in editable formats and ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Graphic Designer position include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic design and publication layout.
  • A proven record of completing graphic design and layout assignments at a high quality.
  • Prior experience working with the UN or international organizations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in design software, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva.
  • Experience in designing reports, publications, and infographics.
  • Knowledge of UNCT branding guidelines is an asset.
  • A strong understanding of data visualization and layout design.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and development issues in Nepal is beneficial.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the designer has the necessary skills and knowledge to create high-quality visual content that meets the standards of the UNCT.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphic design and publication layout. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate is capable of producing high-quality work that aligns with the expectations of the UNCT and can effectively communicate complex data through visual means.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position, as the designer will need to communicate effectively with the RCO team and other stakeholders.
