Job Overview:

Interns will work full-time for a maximum duration of six months, under the supervision of a professional staff member. The role involves providing support in key programmatic areas such as Weapons of Mass Destruction, Conventional Arms and Ammunition, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education, and Cross-Cutting Issues including Gender, Youth, and Emerging Technologies & Security. Interns will engage in various tasks that contribute to the Centre's mission, including strategic communication, public outreach, and the development of communication materials. This position is ideal for those looking to enhance their skills in a dynamic international environment while contributing to important global initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns at UNRCPD will undertake a variety of responsibilities that may include: assisting the Office in strategic communication and public outreach; providing support in developing materials to enhance the visibility of the Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA); contributing to the design and drafting of communication materials such as brochures, fact sheets, and newsletters; supporting the filming and production of promotional videos; helping create digital media content for the Office’s website and social media platforms; and performing any other duties as requested by the supervisor. Daily responsibilities will vary based on the intern's background, assigned tasks, and the duration of the internship, allowing for a tailored experience that aligns with the intern's skills and interests.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Additionally, applicants with basic skills in Adobe tools or relevant design software, or experience in photography or videography, are highly encouraged to apply, although such experience is not a strict requirement for application.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a relevant educational background that aligns with the internship requirements. This includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree programme. The educational qualifications should ideally relate to fields such as international relations, communications, peace studies, or other relevant disciplines that support the mission of UNRCPD.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience in communications, public relations, or related fields will be considered an asset. Interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the responsibilities assigned to them, as well as an interest in the work of the United Nations and its initiatives in peace and disarmament.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position.
