Job Overview:
The Economic Recovery Specialist - Private Sector Engagement Specialist will be a pivotal member of the program team in Tunisia, tasked with fostering collaborations between the DAPP project and various stakeholders in the private sector. This role is crucial for enhancing youth employment opportunities and promoting economic empowerment through strategic partnerships. The specialist will be responsible for identifying and mapping potential partners, developing engagement strategies, and facilitating linkages between private sector entities and DRC beneficiaries. The position requires a proactive approach to building relationships and ensuring that project objectives align with the needs of the labor market, particularly in the context of vocational training and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Private Sector Engagement & Partnership Development: Identify and engage with private sector companies, business associations, and relevant stakeholders to create a comprehensive mapping of potential partners. Develop strategies for establishing partnerships that support job creation and vocational training initiatives. Facilitate connections between private sector entities and DRC beneficiaries, ensuring alignment with labor market needs. Promote Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that align with the DAPP program. Organize networking events and meetings to strengthen public-private dialogue. Identify opportunities for collaborations and new programming avenues.
  • Project Implementation & Coordination: Collaborate with the Economic Recovery Manager and project teams to integrate private sector engagement into broader program activities. Support the design and rollout of initiatives that leverage private sector expertise. Ensure the execution of collaboration activities within allocated budgets and timelines.
  • Market Analysis & Business Development: Conduct market assessments to identify sectors with high potential for employment. Analyze private sector trends and challenges relevant to the project. Provide insights on adapting project interventions based on market dynamics.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting: Track and report on private sector engagement activities, documenting best practices. Develop reports and presentations showcasing successful collaborations. Contribute to donor reporting by providing data on engagement impact.
  • Stakeholder & Partner Management: Maintain relationships with implementing partners, local businesses, and key economic players. Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for partners to enhance their engagement with DRC initiatives. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in private sector engagement, business development, or a similar field.
  • Experience in partnership management and working with private sector actors.
  • Strong knowledge of economic recovery, youth employment, entrepreneurship, and market systems.
  • Ability to conduct market research and analyze labor market trends.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, networking, and negotiation.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, French, and Arabic.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in economics, business administration, international development, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in these areas may be advantageous and are considered a plus.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in private sector engagement, business development, or a similar field. Experience in partnership management and working with private sector actors is essential, along with a strong understanding of economic recovery and youth employment initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in English, French, and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The contract length for this position is 12 months, with a designated duty station in Tunis. The role involves approximately 30% travel across Tunisia to meet potential partners. The start date for this position is set for April 1, 202
