Job Overview:
The UNE Assistante Plaidoyer position is designed to support the advocacy efforts of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The role involves assisting in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies that align with UNEP's mission to encourage sustainable development through sound environmental practices. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, prepare reports, and assist in organizing events that promote UNEP's initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for advocacy and collaboration with various stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and the private sector. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of advocacy campaigns and providing recommendations for improvement. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are essential for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of advocacy strategies for UNEP initiatives.
  • Conduct research on environmental issues and prepare reports to support advocacy efforts.
  • Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and meetings related to UNEP's advocacy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote UNEP's objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy campaigns and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Prepare communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Support the preparation of presentations and speeches for UNEP leadership.
  • Maintain a database of contacts and stakeholders relevant to UNEP's advocacy work.

  • Stay updated on global environmental trends and issues to inform advocacy strategies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of environmental issues and sustainable development principles.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
  • Experience in advocacy or public relations is an asset.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, international relations, public policy, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage for the position.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in advocacy, public relations, or a related field is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. Familiarity with the United Nations system and its operations is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in French or other UN languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the position.

This position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work location. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
