Job Overview: The Digital Translation Processes Coordinator will play a crucial role in the Translation Division of the OECD's Executive Directorate. This position involves ensuring the efficient use of digital translation tools and methodologies, particularly those powered by artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will report to the Digital Translation Processes Manager and will collaborate closely with various translation teams. The role requires a proactive approach to monitoring and implementing translation technologies, advising on best practices, and optimizing translation processes to enhance productivity and quality. The coordinator will also be responsible for managing complex translation projects and ensuring the effective integration of machine translation into the workflow.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor translation technology developments, particularly AI-based tools, and evaluate new tools for potential improvements in the translation process.
Contribute to the selection and implementation of digital translation tools, ensuring their optimal use.
Advise translators and the Workflow and Resource Management Team on issues related to Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) and Machine Translation (MT).
Develop best practices for managing translation memories and terminology databases.
Provide technical assistance to translators and liaise with external technical helpdesks and the in-house IT department.
Manage complex translation projects using CAT tools, estimating costs and efforts, and preparing documents for translation.
Ensure machine translation is effectively integrated into translation processes and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Process bibliographical references and other documentary resources, optimizing their use in translation tools.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in translation, preferably with a specialization in translation technologies.
At least three years of experience in translation, with experience in post-editing considered a plus.
Solid experience in managing and using translation tools, including machine translation engines.
Familiarity with managing complex translation projects and terminology research.
Professional experience in a multicultural environment is advantageous.
Excellent knowledge of Trados Studio, MultiTerm, and machine translation, with good command of Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
Educational Background: A university degree in translation is required, with a preference for candidates who have specialized in translation technologies. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of translation processes and the technologies that support them.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in translation, with a strong emphasis on managing translation tools and projects. Experience in post-editing and terminology research will be beneficial, as will familiarity with working in a multicultural environment.
Languages: Fluency in both English and French, the two official languages of the OECD, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a 24-month fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of renewal for up to 36 months. The monthly salary starts at 5,186 EUR, plus allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax.
