Job Overview: The purpose of the position is to provide support services that contribute to the implementation of the Multi-Year Resilience Program II - EDUCATION CANNOT WAIT, in accordance with NRC's programmatic strategy in the Western area of Colombia. The support services are responsible for developing strategies in language and mathematics, utilizing the ATAL strategy, BLP, and supporting the strengthening of coexistence manuals. Additionally, the role involves integrating a gender-transformative approach and an inclusive disability perspective. The project aims to enhance the resilience of the educational ecosystem to ensure the right to quality education for children and adolescents affected by armed conflict and/or migration. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation and to promote educational access and quality for the targeted beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities: General Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines. Prepare and develop status reports required by management/supervisor. Ensure proper filing of documents. Promote and share ideas to strengthen support functions. Carry out work according to the work plan and development. Specific Responsibilities: In coordination with the Team Leader, conduct educational censuses and active searches alongside community initiatives to effectively identify project beneficiaries. Validate pre-registration lists of project beneficiaries according to NRC's established formats. Conduct project socialization meetings with beneficiaries to agree on academic activities and project objectives. Support educational needs assessments for defined beneficiaries in the project's territories (children, adolescents, youth, adults). Organize beneficiary documents for participation in activities according to NRC protocols (copy of identity document, characterization form, pedagogical assessment form, informed consent, certificate of last grade completed, and ensure formal enrollment in SIMAT). Carry out academic processes in basic, secondary, and higher education for young adults according to the pedagogical plan and methodology to be implemented. Develop the Pedagogical Plan with the beneficiary population, designed by the training team, considering the proposed pedagogical and methodological criteria. Conduct educational workshops, working days, and pedagogical meetings with project beneficiaries focused on promoting and strengthening educational processes (reading, writing, and mathematics skills, socio-emotional learning, recovery classes, leveling and transition programs, safe behaviors, recreational activities). Define, under NRC guidelines and in collaboration with Educational Institutions, a plan for the incorporation of the targeted population into the program to ensure their access, well-being, permanence, transition, and academic success. Contribute to the dissemination and awareness of the educational route, key messages for promoting the right to education, and life skills with children, adolescents, youth, host communities, and populations at risk of school dropout. Ensure compliance with Monitoring & Evaluation tools and follow-up on project beneficiaries. Participate in training and updates on NRC's education program as designated. Any other responsibilities delegated by supervision.
Required Qualifications: Professional qualifications: Recent graduate or in the final semesters of a University Degree in Education Sciences (Language, Biology-Chemistry, Mathematics, Social Sciences) or a Higher Normalist with proven experience in education. General professional competencies: Experience working in support functions in humanitarian contexts. Previous experience in complex and changing contexts. Proven experience related to the responsibilities of the position. Specific skills, knowledge, and experience in the context: Experience working on educational processes/projects for children, youth, and adults in emergency situations with a focus on access, well-being, and permanence. Desirable experience of at least one year in implementing flexible educational models. Experience in implementing pedagogical and didactic strategies to strengthen basic educational competencies with a differential and inclusive approach. Experience working in the region and knowledge of the humanitarian context is positively valued. Sensitivity and respect for vulnerable populations and social issues. Knowledge of the educational context and the political and social situation of the country. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage information and prepare reports. Proven experience in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work in a team. Knowledge and permanence in the territory.
Educational Background: A University Degree in Education Sciences (Language, Biology-Chemistry, Mathematics, Social Sciences) or a Higher Normalist qualification is required. The candidate should have a strong educational background that supports their ability to engage effectively in educational processes and projects, particularly in contexts of emergency and humanitarian response.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of one year of experience in implementing educational models, particularly in emergency contexts. Candidates should have proven experience in educational processes for children, youth, and adults, with a focus on access, well-being, and permanence in education. Experience in complex and changing environments is essential, as well as familiarity with the specific challenges faced by vulnerable populations in educational settings.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of instruction and communication in the region. Knowledge of English or other local languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position may require frequent travel to areas where endemic diseases are present. The role is likely to be full-time, and candidates should be prepared for the challenges associated with working in humanitarian contexts.
