Job Overview:
The WASH Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of water, sanitation, and hygiene programs in the designated area. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and manage projects that improve access to clean water and sanitation facilities, while also promoting hygiene education among communities. The coordinator will work closely with local partners and stakeholders to ensure that programs are culturally appropriate and sustainable. The position also involves monitoring and reporting on program outcomes, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and donor requirements, and advocating for WASH issues at various forums.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement WASH project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and local needs.
  • Conduct assessments to identify gaps in water and sanitation services and develop strategies to address these gaps.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, NGOs, and community groups to promote hygiene education and practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WASH programs, providing regular reports to stakeholders.
  • Manage project budgets and resources efficiently, ensuring accountability and transparency.
  • Train and support field staff and volunteers in WASH program implementation and best practices.
  • Advocate for WASH issues at local, national, and international levels, representing the organization in relevant forums.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all WASH activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in WASH program management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong understanding of water supply, sanitation, and hygiene promotion principles.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, public health, civil engineering, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be advantageous for career advancement.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in WASH program management or related fields is required. Experience working in emergency settings or with international organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Hebrew or Arabic is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders.
