Job Overview: The Regional Human Resources Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the HR strategies and policies that align with Action Against Hunger's mission. This position involves close collaboration with the Director of People and Strategy to enhance the organization's HR capabilities and strengthen the Employee Value Proposition. The Regional HR Director is tasked with executing global HR priorities across the region, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied in all country offices. This role emphasizes the importance of a people-first culture, focusing on employee well-being, engagement, and growth. The Director will lead transformation efforts to build adaptive, high-performing teams while ensuring compliance and operational excellence. The position requires strategic advisory capabilities to regional and country leadership, guiding workforce planning, performance management, and talent development, while also fostering an inclusive and trust-based workplace.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Regional Human Resources Director will lead the implementation of HR Global Priorities and annual HR plans across the region. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with organizational HR minimum standards in all country offices, serving as a strategic HR advisor to senior management, providing HR policy guidance, overseeing regional HR functions such as talent acquisition and performance management, and supporting country offices on HR investigations. The Director will also promote staff well-being and ensure the Safeguarding policy is effectively implemented. Additional duties may be assigned by the Director of People and Strategy.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred. Specialized training in areas such as adult learning, employment law, and organizational development is essential. Professional HR certification from recognized bodies like IHRM, SHRM, CIPD, or HRCI is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strategic thinking, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and develop HR staff effectively.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required, with a Master's degree being highly desirable. Specialized training in relevant HR areas is also necessary to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the field.
Experience: The position requires at least 10 years of progressive HR experience, including a minimum of 4 years in a senior supervisory role within an international humanitarian or development organization. Candidates should have at least 3 years of field experience in an international humanitarian context, demonstrating the ability to build partnerships and trust, make strategic decisions, and lead HR teams effectively.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, with proficiency in French being preferred. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position requires regular attendance of at least five days per week, with the expectation of working outside normal office hours as needed.
