Job Overview: The NDC Update Facilitator will play a crucial role in supporting the Government of Mexico in updating its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under the Paris Agreement. Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and manage multi-stakeholder consultation processes: Plan, coordinate, and facilitate consultations to gather inputs for the NDC formulation, ensuring diverse societal actors can participate actively.
Manage consultations with specific interest groups: Coordinate consultations with key stakeholders, including civil society organizations, academic communities, the private sector, and local governments, and communicate their perspectives transparently.
Facilitate consultations for priority populations: Ensure that the voices and needs of marginalized groups, such as Indigenous peoples, youth, and women, are reflected in the NDC.
Integrate cross-cutting issues: Coordinate consultations on gender equality, social inclusion, and human rights, ensuring these perspectives are integrated into the NDC formulation.
Assist in integrating NDC 3.0: Collaborate in incorporating cross-cutting perspectives into the final NDC document, ensuring that mitigation and adaptation measures consider the differentiated impacts on vulnerable groups.
Generate reports and technical documents: Prepare reports and presentations that document the progress, challenges, and proposals related to the consultations.
Perform other functions as necessary for the efficient operation of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Minimum academic requirements include a secondary education diploma or a university degree (Bachelor's level) in Social Sciences, Political Science, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or Environmental Sciences with a focus on relevant issues. A Master's degree in the mentioned areas is desirable. Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience (with secondary education) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) in facilitating consultation processes and citizen participation related to climate action. At least 5 years of experience in implementing gender perspectives and human rights approaches in climate policy formulation is desirable. Candidates should have experience in designing and facilitating participatory processes and coordinating multi-stakeholder consultations, as well as knowledge of the Escazú Agreement and other regulations related to public participation. Excellent writing skills and the ability to coordinate multiple actors from various sectors are essential.
