Job Overview:
The Communications Analyst will be a key member of the UNDP India Country Office Communications and Partnerships team, focusing on the Sustainable and Inclusive Growth portfolio project, particularly the initiative aimed at boosting female labor force participation through improved urban childcare ecosystems. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies that align with UNDP's mission and objectives, ensuring effective outreach and engagement with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society, and the media. The Communications Analyst will work closely with the National Program Manager and the Head of the Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Unit to enhance visibility and understanding of UNDP's work in India, particularly in relation to the Country Programme Document's goals for sustainable and inclusive growth by 202
  • The position requires a proactive approach to communication, advocacy, and public engagement to leverage support and resources for UNDP's initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Analyst will lead all communication efforts for the Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Unit projects, specifically focusing on the initiative to boost female labor force participation through strengthened urban childcare. Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive communications and outreach strategies for the projects, ensuring alignment with UNDP's organizational priorities.
  • Building a strong digital presence for the programs through social media campaigns, website updates, and exploring digital tools for increased visibility.
  • Facilitating knowledge building and management by creating newsletters and communication products to raise awareness of program objectives and share updates with stakeholders.
  • Supporting business development and knowledge sharing by promoting public information campaigns and ensuring increased media coverage and public engagement.
  • Organizing events such as round-table discussions, press conferences, and interviews to enhance visibility and understanding of UNDP's work.
  • Collaborating closely with the Head of Communications and Partnerships and other team members to ensure effective communication and advocacy strategies are in place.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Journalism, Communication, Social Science, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field combined with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered. Applicants with a master's degree are not required to have prior professional work experience, while those with a bachelor's degree must have at least two years of relevant experience in development communication, journalism, or public relations. Demonstrated experience in strategic outreach, media visibility, and public information techniques is essential, along with proven skills in English editing and writing. Additional desirable skills include experience in the development sector, knowledge of gender equality communications, and proficiency in managing social media outreach.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Journalism, Communication, or Social Science. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in a relevant field is acceptable if combined with two years of additional qualifying experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and advocacy in the context of development work.

Experience:
The level of experience required varies based on the educational qualifications. Candidates with a master's degree are not required to have prior professional experience, while those with a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience at the national or international level in development communication, journalism, or public relations.
