The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the leading United Nations organization dedicated to ending poverty, reducing inequalities, and addressing crises and climate change. Established in 1965, UNDP operates in approximately 170 countries, employing a diverse workforce of over 17,000 professionals. The organization focuses on sustainable development, advocating for integrated solutions that benefit both people and the planet. UNDP's mission is to support countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to foster inclusive development that leaves no one behind. The UNDP Country Office in Thailand is committed to the 17 SDGs and collaborates with various stakeholders, including government bodies, civil society, and the private sector, to implement development interventions that align with Thailand's national priorities and the 2030 Agenda.

Job Overview:
The National Project Coordinating Associate will play a crucial role in the implementation of two key projects aimed at accelerating SDG localisation in Thailand. The first project, 'Partnership to Accelerate SDG Localisation in Thailand,' is a collaborative effort involving UNDP, UN Habitat, and UNICEF, focusing on enhancing awareness and capacities for SDG localisation at provincial and city levels. The second project, 'Strengthening SDG Localisation Phase 2.0,' aims to deepen the engagement of local stakeholders in the SDG localisation process. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and civil society organizations, to promote sustainable development practices and ensure that local needs and priorities are integrated into project activities. This position requires a proactive approach to project planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong emphasis on capacity building and knowledge sharing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a range of duties, including: 1) Project Planning and Coordination: Support the planning and implementation of project activities, organize training sessions for local officials on SDG awareness and monitoring tools, facilitate exchanges of best practices, promote SDGs through media campaigns, advocate for policy reforms, develop partnerships with stakeholders, and ensure community involvement in SDG localisation. 2) Partnership and Resource Mobilization: Establish contacts with UN agencies, government institutions, and NGOs, maintain a database of stakeholders, ensure effective communication and coordination, support project visibility, and explore resource mobilization opportunities. 3) Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting: Implement the project monitoring system, collect and analyze data for evaluation, identify implementation gaps, assist in organizing field visits and workshops, monitor SDG-related activities, and prepare project reports. 4) Communications and Knowledge Sharing: Participate in training sessions, support capacity-building activities, disseminate lessons learned, and contribute to knowledge networks. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in project coordination or management, or 3 years with a bachelor's degree. Proficiency in using office software packages (MS Word, Excel) and web-based management systems is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for reporting and stakeholder engagement. Experience in sustainable development, particularly in coordinating activities with government entities and facilitating training related to SDGs, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to address issues and find practical solutions within the scope of SDG localisation, as well as collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A secondary education is required, while a university degree (Bachelor's degree) in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience for candidates with a high school diploma or 3 years for those with a bachelor's degree. Experience in project coordination, particularly in the area of sustainable development, is essential. Familiarity with government processes and stakeholder engagement is also important, as is experience in facilitating training or workshops related to SDGs and SDG localisation.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Thai or other local languages is considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and based in Bangkok, Thailand. The contract duration and specific terms of employment will be discussed during the interview process. UNDP is committed to diversity and inclusion in its workforce and encourages applications from individuals belonging to marginalized or excluded populations. The organization has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and misconduct, and all selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
