Job Overview:
The National Investment Specialist for the Italy-Africa Digital Flagship is tasked with enhancing investment opportunities and fostering economic growth between Italy and African nations. This role involves analyzing investment trends, identifying potential sectors for investment, and facilitating partnerships between Italian and African stakeholders. The specialist will work closely with government agencies, private sector actors, and international organizations to promote investment initiatives that align with the strategic goals of both regions. The position requires a deep understanding of the economic landscape, investment policies, and the digital economy, as well as the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. The assignment is for a period of 90 days, during which the specialist will be expected to deliver actionable insights and recommendations to enhance bilateral investment flows.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of investment opportunities in various sectors between Italy and African countries.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, and international organizations.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to promote investment initiatives and share best practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on investment trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of investment projects and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with UNDP teams and other partners to align investment strategies with sustainable development goals.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to local stakeholders to enhance their investment readiness.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in investment analysis and economic development, particularly in the context of Africa and Italy.
  • Strong understanding of the digital economy and its implications for investment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management and strategic planning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in investment analysis or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in investment promotion, economic development, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations or in a consulting capacity is highly desirable. Familiarity with the investment landscape in both Italy and African countries will be considered a strong asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Italian and/or Portuguese is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with stakeholders in Italy and Mozambique. Knowledge of other African languages would be an advantage.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 90 days. The work is expected to be full-time, and the contractor will be required to submit proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and the role may involve travel within Mozambique and potentially to Italy, depending on the needs of the assignment.
