The intern will engage in various functions aimed at enhancing strategic partnerships in the region. Responsibilities include conducting research and analysis on themes such as private sector financing and Diaspora and Civil Society Organization (CSO) engagements. The intern will also assist in organizing partner outreach and dialogues, scanning partnership-related news relevant to Africa, and mapping International Financial Institutions (IFIs). The role requires collaboration with the Head of Partnerships and Communications Unit and entails performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. This internship is a full-time, unpaid position with a maximum duration of six months, during which a stipend will be provided to assist with basic expenses.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties and responsibilities include supporting the development of regional and country-specific donor mappings and trend analysis, creating 2-page Partnership Profiles for Development Assistance Committee (DAC), non-DAC, and IFIs, and researching new strategic collaboration opportunities. The intern will compile lessons learned from other UNDP Bureaus regarding engagement with DAC and non-DAC partners relevant to Africa, such as USAID and China. Additionally, the intern will assist in partnership-building efforts by organizing outreach meetings and dialogues, researching and consolidating relevant partnership news for RBA’s Executive Weekly, and setting up an RBA Monthly Partnerships Bulletin. The intern will also support communication efforts by developing outreach materials and products, organizing meetings and events, preparing meeting minutes, and capturing outcomes from relevant events and meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a strong initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They should possess the highest standards of integrity, discretion, and loyalty, along with excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills. The ability to manage diverse and complex tasks under tight deadlines is essential, as is a commitment to the UNDP vision, mission, and strategic goals. Experience: Candidates should have a proven understanding of international development, development financing, and multilateralism, particularly within the UN system. Experience in analytical and data handling capabilities is required, along with a good understanding of current knowledge management technologies. Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills are essential, as well as proficiency in computer skills and the ability to produce visual information. The intern should be capable of problem-solving, multi-tasking, and working under pressure while demonstrating strong follow-up skills.

Additional Notes: The UNDP internship program does not provide a salary or remuneration; however, a modest monthly stipend is offered to help cover basic daily expenses such as meals and transportation.
