Job Overview:
The position of Asociado(a) de coordinación de Experiencias Marino-Costeras is part of the project 'Economic Instruments and Tools to Support Biodiversity Conservation, Payment for Ecosystem Services, and Sustainable Development' (IECB). The role focuses on improving national financing for biodiversity through the design, implementation, and optimization of economic instruments aimed at biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services. The incumbent will support the implementation of marine-coastal demonstration experiences in the regions of Valparaíso and Los Lagos, working under the supervision of the National Coordinator of the IECB project. The position requires technical expertise in sustainable use and conservation of marine-coastal ecosystems, and the ability to coordinate effectively with various stakeholders, including government entities and local communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Asociado(a) de coordinación de Experiencias Marino-Costeras include:
  • Supporting the coordination, planning, execution, and systematization of marine-coastal demonstration experiences in collaboration with local stakeholders.
  • Facilitating regional and local governance coordination for the IECB project, engaging with various governmental and non-governmental partners.
  • Assisting in the preparation of terms of reference, contracts, and procurement for technical studies related to sustainable use and conservation of marine-coastal ecosystems.
  • Promoting participatory implementation of demonstration experiences, ensuring gender and indigenous perspectives are integrated.
  • Contributing to the project’s communication strategy by developing content to disseminate project results.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the Annual Operational Plan (POA) and other project activities.
  • Performing additional functions as necessary for the efficient operation of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience with a secondary education or 3 years with a university degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Marine Biology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conservation and sustainable use of marine-coastal ecosystems, sustainable biodiversity management, and environmental policies.
  • Experience working with various public and private stakeholders at national and intersectoral levels.
  • Proficiency in remote work tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed secondary education. A university degree (Bachelor's) in Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Marine Biology, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with relevant professional qualifications in these areas will be given due consideration.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience if they possess a secondary education or 3 years if they hold a university degree. Relevant experience includes work in conservation and sustainable use of marine-coastal ecosystems, sustainable biodiversity management, and environmental governance.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is required for this position. Advanced knowledge of English is desirable but not mandatory.

The position is based in the UNDP offices in Chile and the Ministry of the Environment, with flexibility for remote work as agreed upon with the ministry counterpart and the National Project Coordinator.
