Job Overview:
The position involves providing deliverable-based consultancy services specifically focused on Urban Climate Finance. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of strategies that enhance urban climate finance mechanisms. This role is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by climate change in urban areas, ensuring that cities can access the necessary financial resources to implement climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including local governments, financial institutions, and community organizations, to identify funding opportunities and develop financial models that support sustainable urban development. The assignment period is set from February 2025 to January 2028, indicating a long-term commitment to the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to: conducting assessments of current urban climate finance mechanisms, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement, developing comprehensive reports and recommendations for stakeholders, facilitating workshops and training sessions for local governments and financial institutions, collaborating with international and local partners to enhance knowledge sharing and capacity building, and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies. The consultant will also be expected to stay updated on global trends in urban climate finance and contribute to the development of innovative financing solutions tailored to the specific needs of urban areas in Turkey.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in urban planning, climate finance, or a related field. A proven track record of working on climate finance projects, particularly in urban settings, is essential. The consultant should have excellent analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and strong communication skills. Familiarity with international climate finance mechanisms and policies, as well as experience in project management, will be highly regarded. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and an understanding of the challenges faced by urban areas in the context of climate change.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Finance, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in climate finance or sustainable development will be considered an asset. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of urban climate finance.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in urban climate finance, project management, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs on climate-related projects is highly desirable. The consultant should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within specified timelines. Previous experience in capacity building and stakeholder engagement will also be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Turkish is highly desirable, as the consultant will be working closely with local stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an advantage, particularly for engaging with diverse communities and partners.
