Job Overview:
The position of IC Sr. Electrical/Electronics Engineer (PV Systems & Electrical) is crucial for the successful implementation of the UNDP Oxygen Plant Project. The engineer will be responsible for providing expert consultancy services in the design, installation, and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) systems and electrical appliances. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, particularly in renewable energy systems. The engineer will work closely with project teams to ensure that all electrical systems are compliant with international standards and best practices. The position also involves conducting assessments, preparing technical reports, and providing recommendations for improvements in existing systems. The engineer will be expected to collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, to facilitate the successful execution of project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop PV systems tailored to project specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for the installation of electrical systems.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for project proposals.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for electrical and PV systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate electrical systems with other project components.
  • Conduct training sessions for local staff on the operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of installed systems, providing recommendations for optimization.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services. 1
  • Stay updated on advancements in electrical engineering and renewable energy technologies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering, specifically in PV systems and electrical appliances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools for design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of international standards and regulations related to electrical systems and renewable energy.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred. Additional certifications in renewable energy systems or project management will be an advantage.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on renewable energy systems, particularly photovoltaic systems. Experience working on international development projects or with UN agencies is highly desirable. Proven track record of successful project implementation and management is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Pakistan is an asset but not required. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor role under the UNDP framework. The contract duration will be specified in the terms of reference (TORs) attached to the proposal submission. The position is full-time, and the consultant will be expected to work closely with the UNDP team and other stakeholders. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and benefits may include travel allowances and other project-related expenses.
