Job Overview:
The Research Analyst will support the Istanbul Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) within UNDP, specifically focusing on the SDG Financing and Private Sector Development portfolio. This role involves strategic knowledge management, research, content development, and project management support for various projects and activities. The Research Analyst will work under the guidance of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director and the direct supervision of the Impact Investing Programme Management Specialist. The position requires thorough analysis and research on the role of the private sector in SDG financing, contributing to high-quality policy and program guidance materials, and ensuring timely execution of activities in collaboration with stakeholders. The role also includes organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, maintaining documentation, and managing outreach and relationships with investors and development partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Conduct thorough analysis and research on the private sector's role in SDG financing, prepare policy and program guidance materials, and contribute to activity plans and schedules. Monitor milestones and deliverables, identify risks, and recommend mitigation measures. Design and implement activities in Morocco, Senegal, and the Republic of Congo under the Platform for Investment Support and Technical Assistance (PISTA).
  • Coordination and Facilitation: Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions, manage logistics, and prepare related materials. Maintain organized documentation of contracts, correspondence, and reports. Support procurement and contracting processes.
  • Outreach and Relationships Management: Identify and consult with relevant investors and stakeholders, ensure their active engagement, and prepare project proposals, concept notes, and donor progress reports. Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in international relations/law, political science, international development, economic development, business/public administration, or related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the above-mentioned fields combined with two years of qualifying experience will be considered. Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is essential. Experience in the design and implementation of research and advocacy activities/projects in Morocco, Senegal, or the Republic of Congo is desired, along with experience in drafting high-quality materials for internal and external partners.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as international relations, political science, international development, economic development, or business/public administration. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in these fields, combined with two years of qualifying experience, will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
Applicants with a Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field are not required to have professional work experience. However, those with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) must have a minimum of two years of research work experience in sustainable investments or finance. Desired experience includes investment landscape analysis, market research for SDG-aligned investment opportunities, and familiarity with UN/UNDP or international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is required for this position, as effective communication with diverse stakeholders is essential.

Additional Notes:
This position is short-term at the IPSA-8 level and is office-based in Istanbul, Türkiye. The expected duration of the contract is six months, with a maximum of 130 working days in a calendar period.
