Job Overview:
The Child Protection Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the development, planning, and management of child protection programs in Ethiopia. This position involves conducting situation analyses, researching development trends, and contributing to the establishment of program goals and strategies. The officer will provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming processes, ensuring compliance with organizational processes and management systems. The role also includes monitoring and evaluating program results, collaborating with colleagues and partners, and preparing documentation for program reviews and approvals. The officer will be responsible for ensuring effective program implementation, monitoring resource utilization, and reporting on critical issues to management and stakeholders. Additionally, the officer will engage in networking and partnership building with government counterparts and national stakeholders to facilitate program implementation and capacity building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support program development and planning by conducting situation analyses and updating data for child protection programs.
  • Research and report on development trends for program management and evaluation.
  • Provide technical and operational support throughout programming processes, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for program reviews and approvals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to address implementation issues and provide solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate program progress, reporting on resource utilization and compliance with donor commitments.
  • Conduct field visits and surveys to assess program progress and provide technical support.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with government and national stakeholders to facilitate program implementation.

  • Prepare resource mobilization materials and communication materials for advocacy.

Required Qualifications:
A university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or another relevant social science field is required. At least two years of relevant professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection areas is required. Relevant experience in program development within a UN system agency is considered an asset, and experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in fields such as international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or other relevant social sciences. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of child protection and social development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection areas. Experience in program development within a UN agency or organization is considered an asset, and familiarity with both development and humanitarian contexts is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Amharic is considered an added advantage. Proficiency in additional languages may enhance a candidate's suitability for the position.
