Job Overview: The primary objective of the Asistente de Comunicaciones position is to support the Communication Unit of the UNDP in Chile in its dissemination efforts. This role is crucial for implementing the Country Office's Communication Strategy, which aligns with UNDP's broader communication policies. The assistant will engage with various stakeholders, including media, civil society organizations, and the private sector, to enhance the visibility of UNDP's initiatives in sustainable development areas such as gender equality, environmental sustainability, poverty reduction, and territorial governance. The position involves creating and managing communication materials, organizing events, and ensuring effective communication across different platforms to promote UNDP's work in Chile.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asistente de Comunicaciones will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the Country Office's relationships with media and civil society organizations in line with UNDP's communication policies.
Developing proposals for products and services related to sustainable development projects to enhance UNDP's visibility across various media channels.
Creating and managing dissemination materials, including visual and written content for UNDP's institutional platforms such as the website, blogs, and social media.
Assisting in the organization and coverage of events that highlight key milestones, knowledge products, or new project launches, including logistical support and coordination with partners.
Collaborating with different teams within the Country Office to develop communication proposals that effectively showcase UNDP's work to relevant audiences.
Managing the filing and organization of the Communication Unit's resources and platforms, including intranet sites and activity calendars.
Overseeing administrative and operational tasks within the unit, including document preparation and updates in collaboration with Operations counterparts, particularly in Procurement and Finance.
Performing other functions as necessary for the efficient operation of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of secondary education, with a university degree in communications, journalism, or a related field being advantageous. Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience (or 2 years with a degree) in media, public organizations, or international agencies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with digital tools for communication and collaboration are essential. Familiarity with social media platforms and web tools is also required. Experience in international organizations or UN agencies is highly desirable, along with skills in project management and relationship building with various stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a university degree in communications, journalism, or a related field considered a significant advantage. Additional qualifications such as post-graduate degrees may also be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience if they have only completed secondary education, or 2 years if they hold a university degree. Relevant experience includes work in media, public organizations, or international agencies. For those with a degree in communications or journalism, a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is required for this position, while proficiency in English at an intermediate level is highly desirable. Candidates must demonstrate their language skills through relevant certifications or documentation.
