Job Overview: The Land Use Planning Expert position is a national role that is primarily home-based, with an assignment period of up to 18 months. The main objective of this role is to develop an ecologically and economically optimal land use approach that balances agricultural production with land conservation and restoration efforts. The expert will be expected to analyze current land use practices, identify areas for improvement, and propose strategies that align with sustainable development goals. This position requires a deep understanding of land use planning principles, environmental sustainability, and agricultural practices, as well as the ability to engage with various stakeholders to implement effective land management strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of current land use practices in Ukraine, focusing on agricultural, ecological, and economic factors.
Develop a strategic framework for land use planning that promotes sustainable agricultural practices while conserving natural resources.
Collaborate with local governments, agricultural stakeholders, and community organizations to gather input and ensure that proposed land use strategies are practical and beneficial.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans for land use optimization.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on sustainable land use practices and the importance of conservation.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of land use strategies, making adjustments as necessary based on feedback and changing conditions.
Stay updated on national and international best practices in land use planning and environmental sustainability to inform project development.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in land use planning, environmental science, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex land use issues and develop practical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in project management and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies related to land use and environmental protection in Ukraine.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in land use planning, environmental science, agriculture, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in sustainable development or project management would be advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in land use planning, environmental management, or a related field is required. Experience working with governmental or international organizations on land use projects is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian and English is mandatory. Knowledge of Russian is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with various stakeholders in the region.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as a national contract and is home-based, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. The contract duration is up to 18 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, and benefits may include health insurance and professional development opportunities.
