Gaza Sky Geeks (GSG), a project initiated by Mercy Corps in 2011 with support from Google, focuses on fostering sustainable and inclusive tech-enabled economic development in Palestine. GSG aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Palestinian tech sector in the global market by developing the capacity of tech-services companies and providing large-scale training in specialized tech skills.
Job Overview: The primary focus of the GSG is to empower the ecosystem in Palestine by upskilling individuals and companies to improve their income-generating capabilities while facilitating international connections. The Technical Advisor will play a crucial role in collaborating with the GSG team to ensure the effective execution of activities and provide technical guidance in managing relationships with external stakeholders, particularly in the marketing and branding interventions for tech companies. The role involves understanding business requirements, converting them into software requirements, and overseeing the implementation of marketing strategies that align with the goals of GSG.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including understanding the business requirements of the marketing and branding interventions, converting these requirements into software specifications, and preparing technical specifications for website development service providers. The Consultant will also review and evaluate technical offerings from multiple marketing and website service providers, follow up with service providers, and make recommendations to the GSG companies’ team. Additionally, the Consultant will guide beneficiaries through the implementation period of the marketing and branding interventions, oversee their progress, and provide recommendations for future planning. The Consultant is expected to prepare and deliver high-quality presentations on achievements and learnings, enhance the current GSG website, and provide relevant training and manuals as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a strong understanding of marketing and branding strategies, particularly in the tech sector. They should have experience in project management and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Strong analytical skills are essential for assessing the needs of beneficiaries and providing actionable recommendations. The ideal candidate should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively present findings and strategies to stakeholders.
Educational Background: A degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in project management or digital marketing would be advantageous. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the tech industry and experience in capacity building or training.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, branding, or project management, preferably within the tech sector. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is a plus. Proven track record of successfully managing projects and delivering results in a timely manner is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries. Additional languages would be considered an asset.
