Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Interpreter will be responsible for providing simultaneous interpretation from Burmese, Rohingya, or Rakhine into English and vice versa. This includes interpreting during meetings, interviews, and similar processes. The Interpreter will also assist in the preparation and conduct of missions by the IIMM, ensuring that all communications are accurately conveyed. Additionally, the role requires maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all information obtained during assignments, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved. The Interpreter must be prepared to adapt to various situations and provide high-quality interpretation that meets the needs of the organization and its stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification. A minimum of one year of experience in interpreting from one of the languages of Myanmar (Burmese, Rohingya, or Rakhine) into English and vice versa is required. Experience in providing interpretation or translation services in support of criminal investigations or related subjects is considered desirable. Furthermore, experience working in field missions within the United Nations Common System or other international organizations is also desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational context of the UN.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification. This foundational education is essential for understanding the complexities of language interpretation and the nuances involved in effective communication across cultures.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in interpreting from one of the languages of Myanmar into English and vice versa.
