Job Overview: The position of International Technical Consultant to Upgrade Methodology is crucial for the successful implementation of the Supporting the Moldovan authorities in the sustainable management of the Dniester River Project. The consultant will be responsible for upgrading and finalizing the methodology for identifying ponds and reservoirs for disposal. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental management and sustainable practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with local authorities and stakeholders. The consultant will be expected to provide expert guidance and recommendations based on best practices and innovative approaches in the field. The work will involve conducting assessments, analyzing data, and developing comprehensive reports that will inform decision-making processes. The consultant will also be required to engage with various stakeholders, ensuring that the methodology aligns with national and international standards for environmental protection and resource management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the International Technical Consultant include but are not limited to:
Conducting a thorough review of existing methodologies for the identification of ponds and reservoirs.
Engaging with local authorities and stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on current practices.
Developing an upgraded methodology that incorporates best practices and innovative solutions for sustainable management.
Preparing detailed reports and documentation outlining the new methodology and its implementation strategies.
Providing training and capacity-building sessions for local authorities on the new methodology.
Ensuring that the methodology complies with national and international environmental standards.
Collaborating with UNDP and other partners to align project objectives with broader environmental goals.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the new methodology post-implementation.
Offering ongoing support and recommendations for further improvements as necessary.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
Proven experience in developing methodologies for environmental assessments and management.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with the legal and regulatory frameworks governing environmental management in Moldova.
Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of sustainable development projects.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a minimum of a Master's degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or a closely related field. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset. The educational background should demonstrate a strong foundation in environmental policies, sustainable practices, and resource management principles.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental consultancy, project management, or a related field. Candidates should have a track record of successfully implementing similar projects, particularly in developing countries. Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the specific environmental challenges faced in Moldova.
