Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the EU Readmission Capacity Building Facility (EURCAP) by providing operational, technical, and administrative support. This position is integral to the Project Management Team (PMT) and involves ensuring compliance with IOM policies and EU requirements. The Project Assistant will facilitate communication between local project teams and the PMT, monitor project progress, and assist in stakeholder engagement. The role also includes knowledge management activities, drafting project reports, conducting research, and supporting training activities. The Project Assistant will be expected to undertake travel for project delivery and stakeholder management, ensuring that all activities align with the project's objectives and IOM's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of all EURCAP project activities in compliance with IOM policies and EU requirements.
Act as the focal point for communication between local project teams and the PMT.
Monitor project progress and provide technical support to local teams.
Engage with stakeholders including DG HOME, EU Member States, and IOM Country Offices.
Four years of relevant professional experience, or a High-School diploma with six years of relevant experience.
Excellent knowledge of EU institutions and migration policies.
Experience in programme/project implementation and reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational, planning, and administrative skills.
Good analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Alternatively, a High-School diploma with significant relevant experience is acceptable.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in programme/project implementation, reporting, monitoring, and administrative tasks. Experience in managing multi-country projects and liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations is essential. Familiarity with return, readmission, and reintegration processes is advantageous, as is previous work with EU or international public bodies related to migration.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, both oral and written. A working knowledge of French is desirable, which would enhance communication with stakeholders and contribute to the effectiveness of the role.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates with a valid residence and work permit for Belgium will be considered. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for 24 months.
