Job Overview:
The Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) plays a crucial role in the management and coordination of technical and operational support for FAO's program and project activities in Uganda. This position requires a deep understanding of local conditions, culture, and institutions to effectively contribute to the development and implementation of programs that align with national priorities. The role involves liaising with government authorities and various stakeholders, promoting FAO's initiatives, and ensuring that the organization's regulatory frameworks are adhered to. The Assistant Representative will also be involved in producing technical studies, monitoring program implementation, and training lower-grade staff, ensuring that all activities are executed according to established work plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) include:

• Liaising with government authorities and local, national, and international institutions regarding FAO's activities and representing FAO at interagency meetings as required.
• Promoting FAO's image through advocacy and communication tools, ensuring the implementation of FAO's regulatory frameworks in Uganda.
• Coordinating the collection and maintenance of data on food, crops, livestock, forestry, and fisheries, and monitoring changes in national agricultural policies.
• Participating in the production of technical, economic, and policy studies, and developing frameworks such as the Country Programming Framework (CPF) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).
• Identifying, formulating, and preparing program and project proposals, monitoring their implementation, and proposing corrective measures when necessary.
• Briefing, training, and supervising lower-grade program staff to ensure adherence to procedures and accuracy in work.
• Supporting the design and development of innovative agricultural initiatives and ensuring their effective implementation to create sustainable impacts among beneficiary communities.
• Contributing to country reporting and documentation of best practices for stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) position include:

• Nationality: Must be a national of Uganda.
• Education: An advanced university degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, forestry, fisheries, natural resources, rural development, business administration, international relations, or a related field.
• Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in public or private sectors related to programming, planning, and technical cooperation in food and agriculture, or project implementation in areas relevant to FAO's activities.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in fields such as agriculture, agricultural economics, forestry, fisheries, natural resources, rural development, business administration, management, international relations, or any other relevant discipline that aligns with the work of the FAO.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in programming, planning, and technical cooperation in food and agriculture, or project implementation in areas related to FAO's activities. Experience in field positions and in more than one location or area of work is desirable.

Languages:
