Job Overview:
The position of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Coordinator involves significant responsibilities under the authority of the director-general" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Assistant Director-General for Education. The incumbent will be tasked with implementing, monitoring, and reporting on various projects and programs related to education for sustainable development. This includes coordinating efforts at global, regional, and national levels, providing policy advice, and supporting capacity-building activities in Member States. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including UNESCO Chairs, Member States, and field offices, to promote effective ESD policies and practices. The incumbent will also be responsible for organizing research and partnerships aimed at transforming education and improving learning outcomes, as well as conceptualizing strategic frameworks to leverage ESD in education transformation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will perform a variety of essential duties, including coordinating the implementation of the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030 framework, providing technical support and policy advice to Member States, planning and organizing research and consultations, overseeing large-scale ESD events, managing the UNESCO Japan ESD Prize, developing knowledge products and guidelines related to ESD, leading the ESD for 2030 team, and exploring resource mobilization opportunities. The role also involves ensuring effective communication and collaboration among teams and stakeholders, monitoring progress, and providing support to Member States and development partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, science, or related social science fields. A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in education systems analysis, development, or reforms is required, with at least 3 years of experience at the international level. Proven experience in fundraising and resource mobilization, as well as outreach and partnership building, is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate a good understanding of global trends in education for sustainable development and possess strong conceptual, analytical, and technical skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in relevant fields such as education, science, or social sciences. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of education systems and the necessary reforms to promote sustainable development.

Experience:
