The Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest provides services in Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, and Information Technology to UNICEF offices globally.
Job Overview: The GS-5 Project Assistant will be part of the Business Innovation and Support (BIS) section, which aims to drive business modernization and efficiency across UNICEF. This role will focus on supporting the implementation of the Boosting Office Operational Efficiency (BOOE) project, which addresses gaps in enterprise platforms by providing tailored methodologies and tools. The Project Assistant will also promote innovation and explore new technologies within GSSC and the broader UNICEF system. This position is pivotal for enhancing operational efficiency and advancing digital transformation efforts across UNICEF.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Support and Coordination: Support the implementation of the BOOE initiative, assist in planning and executing project activities, maintain comprehensive project documentation, and coordinate meetings and workshops with stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Act as a liaison between the project team and stakeholders, collaborate with partners to align project activities with organizational goals, prepare reports and presentations, and document meeting outcomes.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research on best practices and emerging technologies, analyze trends, and provide insights to optimize strategies.
Supporting Innovation: Contribute to the development of GSSC's innovation strategy, strengthen partnerships with academic institutions, promote design thinking methodologies, and facilitate events to co-create solutions with end-users.
Required Qualifications: Completion of secondary education is a minimum requirement, with a university degree or master’s degree in business administration or innovation management considered an asset. Advanced proficiency in Office 365 products is required, and familiarity with tools like MS Power Platform and SharePoint is desirable. Experience in a multicultural environment and partnership building with academic institutions is an asset, as well as experience in managing innovation networks and project setup.
Educational Background: A minimum of a high school diploma is required, with a university degree or master's degree in relevant fields being advantageous. A completed bachelor’s degree counts as three years of relevant work experience, while a master's degree adds two additional years.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in innovation or strategy management is required, preferably within the UN or other international organizations. Relevant work experience can be substituted with educational qualifications as outlined above.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset.

Applicants must be nationals of Hungary or EU/Schengen countries or possess a valid long-term Hungarian residence and work permits. The position offers a competitive salary exempt from national income taxes in Hungary, starting at net HUF 684,059 per month.
