Job Overview: The position is situated within the Research Department of the ILO, which conducts research on labor, employment, and social protection issues to inform policy-making at both national and global levels. The primary goal of the Research Department is to assess major trends affecting the world of work, including new technologies, demographic patterns, environmental changes, and the evolving role of finance. The role will involve supporting the development and coordination of communication strategies for disseminating research findings through various channels, including the intranet, internet, email, and social media platforms. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical and editorial support to Research staff in the preparation and dissemination of informational materials. Edit, draft, or rewrite texts to support the dissemination of articles, working papers, newsletters, flagship reports, or other informational materials as needed.
Assist the management team and senior research staff in implementing the communication and dissemination strategy of Research in collaboration with the DCOMM department.
Aid in the production of audio and video projects by conducting research, obtaining copyright and other necessary permissions, and organizing audio editing and mixing in close collaboration with DCOMM. Compile and gather information for dissemination.
In coordination with relevant stakeholders inside and outside the Research department, edit and package digital content for online dissemination on the ILO intranet, public website, and social media channels.
Actively participate in organizing webinars/virtual events, research seminars, working lunches, conferences, and meetings.
Assist in organizing and delivering training and outreach to department staff on communication and dissemination.
Enhance the automated research knowledge platform, databases, and mailing lists of the department, as well as prepare monthly reports related to communication and dissemination.
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned. These specific functions align with the generic job description for the ILO position, which includes researching and preparing materials for informational topics and/or documents such as audiovisual productions, gathering information for dissemination, drafting communications, and assisting in the organization of seminars and conferences.
Required Qualifications: Education: A first-level university degree (bachelor's or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, liberal arts, or another relevant discipline. Experience: A minimum of three years of professional experience in public information or related fields. Languages: Excellent command of one of the ILO's working languages (English, French, Spanish) and practical knowledge of a second working language of the Organization. Knowledge of a third working language of the Organization will be an asset. Additional Notes: The contract is for a fixed duration and will be governed by the ILO's Staff Regulations and other applicable internal rules. The initial contract will be for a period of 24 months, and if the selected candidate is an external candidate, they will be subject to a probationary period during their first two years of service. Any subsequent contract extension after the probationary period will depend on satisfactory conduct and performance during that period.
