Job Overview:
The position involves providing consultancy services for the FARM+ project, which focuses on environmental issues and contamination due to agrochemical use. The consultant will be responsible for characterizing intervention sites prioritized for the project, analyzing socio-environmental data, and generating information that will facilitate the transition to sustainable agriculture practices that are free from agrochemicals and resilient to climate change. The estimated duration of the consultancy is five months, starting in February 2025 and concluding in June 202
  • The consultant will work remotely but must be available for field missions in Mexico as required, with minimal notice. The role requires a commitment to deliver high-quality outputs that align with the project's objectives and contribute to the overall theory of change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Characterize intervention sites for the FARM+ project, focusing on environmental and agrochemical contamination aspects.
  • Analyze socio-environmental data to inform project activities.
  • Design and propose demonstrative activities that facilitate the transition to sustainable agriculture.
  • Collaborate with the National Environment, Energy, and Resilience Officer to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Prepare reports and documentation that detail findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in field missions as required, ensuring compliance with UNDP travel regulations.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on proposed activities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of outputs and adherence to project timelines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in environmental consultancy, particularly in agriculture and agrochemical contamination.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret socio-environmental data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Spanish and English.
  • Familiarity with sustainable agriculture practices and climate resilience strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Sustainable Development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or environmental consultancy will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in environmental consultancy, with a focus on agricultural practices and agrochemical use. Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the consultancy will involve working with local stakeholders and communities. Proficiency in English is also required to ensure effective communication with the UNDP and international partners. Knowledge of other languages relevant to the region may be considered an advantage.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is part-time, with a flexible schedule but requires immediate availability for field missions in Mexico. The payment structure consists of four payments contingent upon the delivery and acceptance of satisfactory outputs by UNDP. The consultant will be expected to adapt to different time zones as necessary for consultations and project activities.
