Job Overview:
The intern will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's initiatives aimed at promoting girls' rights and empowerment, particularly in preparation for the regional Summit on 'Girls' Vision for the Future' scheduled for 202
  • This position involves working closely with the coordinator and serving as the Secretariat for the DOers, which entails assisting in the delivery of tasks related to the summit. The intern will be responsible for mapping key stakeholders and girls' organizations across Cameroon, developing and monitoring the Action Plan and Girls' Agenda, and communicating progress on these initiatives. This role is integral to fostering a movement that empowers girls and integrates their needs into national policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Secretariat for the DOers and assist in the delivery of their tasks, collaborating closely with the coordinator.
  • Conduct a comprehensive mapping of key stakeholders working for and with girls across the 10 regions of Cameroon, in partnership with field offices and key partners.
  • Identify and map girls’ organizations or groups to strengthen the network of support.
  • Assist in the development and ongoing monitoring of the Action Plan and the Girls’ Agenda for Cameroon.
  • Identify opportunities to contribute to the success of the initiative and communicate progress effectively.
  • Compile and disseminate information materials related to the initiative.
  • Engage with local partners and stakeholders to promote the girls' movement and ensure their voices are heard in policy discussions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in a degree program in undergraduate or graduate studies, or recent graduation in fields such as anthropology, psychology, sociology, gender studies, education, or other relevant technical areas.
  • Proficiency in both English and French, which are UNICEF's working languages.
  • Strong academic performance, evidenced by recent university records or a reference letter from an academic supervisor.
  • No immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office.
  • Compliance with UNICEF Child Safeguarding Personnel Standards.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a relevant degree program, such as anthropology, psychology, sociology, gender studies, or education. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of girls' rights and empowerment.

Experience:
