Job Overview: The Child Protection Officer Level 1 (NoA) position at UNICEF involves supporting program development and planning, managing and monitoring programs, delivering results, providing technical and operational support for program implementation, building networks and partnerships, and engaging in innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building. The role is crucial in ensuring that UNICEF's mission to protect children's rights is effectively carried out, particularly in challenging environments. Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the development and planning of child protection programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives.
Manage and monitor the implementation of child protection initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of results and adherence to quality standards.
Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners in the implementation of child protection programs.
Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, including NGOs, community organizations, and other UN agencies, to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
Engage in innovation and knowledge management to improve program effectiveness and efficiency.
Conduct capacity-building activities for partners and stakeholders to strengthen their ability to implement child protection initiatives.
Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
Prepare reports and documentation related to program activities, results, and challenges.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or another relevant social science field. A minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection areas is required. Experience in developing countries is considered an asset, as is experience in networking and partnership building. Technical experience in providing operational support to various partners is also desirable. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
Educational Background: A university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of child protection and social development.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of one year of professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas. Experience working in a developing country is advantageous, as it provides insight into the challenges faced in such environments. Additionally, experience in networking and partnership building is desirable, as the role involves collaboration with various stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse partners and communities.
