Job Overview: The National Project Officer position is crucial for the implementation of the project aimed at combating child labor in Egypt, particularly focusing on the worst forms of child labor. The incumbent will provide programming and administrative support to ensure the effective execution of project activities. This role involves reviewing child labor-related reports, coordinating with project teams, partners, and beneficiaries, and assisting in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of project activities. The National Project Officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including governmental institutions, private sector organizations, and civil society, to enhance their capacities in combating child labor. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while also being part of a collaborative team environment. The officer will report directly to the National Project Manager and liaise with the National Project Coordinator, ensuring alignment with the overall objectives of the Decent Work Team/director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for Egypt and Eritrea.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and analyze the country’s specific development plans and priorities, socioeconomic data, reports, and other relevant information to identify potential technical cooperation areas and provide written analysis to the Country Director.
Collaborate with project partners to design and revise project annual work plans and prepare budget proposals, considering various approaches and alternative methods for effective management and problem resolution.
Review, verify, and analyze work plans, progress reports, and other data for clarity and completeness, monitoring project activities and following up on delayed documents.
Coordinate with technical officers and counterparts in organizations and government offices to expedite project implementation and meet targets.
Assist in programming and controlling project resources, preparing budget estimates, and monitoring expenditures to ensure rational use of funds.
Provide programming and administrative support to cooperation activities aimed at eliminating child labor, actively participating in relevant documentation.
Participate in the preparation and conduct of conferences, seminars, workshops, and training sessions, representing the project when necessary.
Brief the Project Manager and other officials on project matters, drafting and editing official correspondence and public information materials.
Lead the preparation of briefs, technical reports, and periodic progress reports on project activities. 1
Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in economics, public policies, development studies, or a relevant field. An advanced degree in labor economics is considered a strong advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a solid understanding of child protection, child labor, poverty reduction, and social policies, along with knowledge of the policy-making process. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing are essential for this role.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a first-level university degree in a relevant field such as economics, public policies, or development studies. An advanced degree in labor economics would be highly beneficial and is preferred for candidates seeking to excel in this role.
Experience: The position requires at least one year of professional experience at the national level in project management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Proven experience in working effectively with government bodies responsible for policy-making and with development partners is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a good understanding of child protection and labor issues, as well as experience in managing projects related to these areas.
