Job Overview:
This internship is designed to provide support for the implementation of gender parity strategies specifically for uniformed personnel in UN Peacekeeping. The intern will engage in various tasks that contribute to the development and piloting of a network of uniformed women peacekeepers. The position is flexible, allowing for a hybrid work environment, and can be conducted fully remotely or in-person in New York. The internship is full-time, requiring 35 hours per week, but part-time options are available. The intern will gain valuable experience in programmatic support, research, and event organization within the context of UN peacekeeping operations, which focus on conflict prevention, resolution, and sustaining peace.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: assisting in drafting, formatting, and editing reports and communication materials; supporting the organization and execution of online events and meetings; maintaining an online information repository; collecting, analyzing, and visualizing quantitative and qualitative data; attending events and providing insights through meeting notes; conducting research on various topics and synthesizing information; and implementing activities that support the Office's gender parity strategies for both civilian and uniformed personnel. The intern will also perform other duties as required, contributing to the overall mission of the UN in promoting gender equality within peacekeeping.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate computer literacy in standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and possess a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in a relevant field such as public policy, political science, business administration, communication, or data analysis. The internship is open to students in their final year of undergraduate studies, as well as those pursuing or having completed graduate degrees (Master’s or Ph.D.). Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree program must be provided with the application.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should have relevant coursework or academic experience that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This could include experience in project management, public relations, or data analysis, which would be beneficial for the tasks involved in supporting gender parity strategies.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations.
