Job Overview: The IT Assistant position is situated within the Administrative unit of the UNESCO Tashkent Office. The role is crucial for providing decentralized basic and routine technical support on hardware and software application systems within the office's assigned area. Reporting directly to the Administrative Officer, the IT Assistant is responsible for a variety of office-oriented activities that support the Administrative unit and the delivery of projects and programs. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining ICT infrastructure, ensuring internet connectivity, and providing technical support to users. The IT Assistant will also be involved in the implementation of backups, maintaining security protocols, and participating in inter-agency meetings related to ICT.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IT Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities including:
ICT Maintenance Services: Administer and maintain the ICT infrastructure, ensuring the safety and security of all system applications and databases.
Desktop Support Services: Provide technical support for the installation and configuration of new equipment and peripherals, manage service requests, and assist users in resolving technical problems.
Procurement Support Services: Advise on IT equipment improvements, assist in negotiations with local ISPs, and support the rollout of new functionalities and services.
Record Management: Assist in structuring digital record management and maintaining computerized databases.
Assets Management: Prepare and maintain inventory lists, manage non-expendable items, and support physical inventory exercises.
Additional activities as required to ensure team success.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) or a relevant field. Candidates must have at least five years of work experience in integrated service execution and comprehensive process support, preferably in an international environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organizational abilities, and a service-oriented mindset are essential. Proficiency in standard office software and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail are also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the field of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) or a related area. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively supporting the ICT infrastructure within the organization.
Experience: The IT Assistant position requires a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. This experience should encompass integrated service execution and comprehensive process support, ideally within an international context. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of providing technical support and managing ICT systems effectively.
