It focuses on advancing the understanding of life cycle thinking among decision-makers and building consensus on access to life cycle knowledge. The initiative is hosted by UN Environment in Paris, and it operates with a mission to improve decision-making processes related to environmental, social, and economic impacts.
Job Overview: The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Life Cycle Initiative, collaborating with Programme Officers within the unit. The role involves engaging in projects related to Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) and Sustainable Consumption and Production. The intern will support various high-impact sectors and supply chains, including Buildings and Construction, Mining and Extractives, and Textiles. The internship is designed to last for a duration of 6 months, during which the intern will gain valuable experience in sustainable development practices and contribute to meaningful projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities may include supporting activities that promote life cycle thinking in high-impact sectors, assisting with research and data collection on life cycle themes, coordinating outreach efforts for partners, providing day-to-day support for project-related activities, contributing to communications efforts, assisting with logistical preparations for meetings and events, and performing additional tasks as requested by the team. Specific duties may involve drafting documents, maintaining member lists, updating the website, and preparing presentations and summary reports.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level). Alternatively, candidates who have graduated with a university degree must commence the internship within one year of graduation. The academic background should be at least at the Bachelor’s level in fields such as environmental science, political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences, or related areas.
