Job Overview: The National Consultant for Gender-Based Violence and firearms control will be responsible for providing expert advice and support to the UNDP in the Republic of North Macedonia. This role involves analyzing the current situation regarding gender-based violence and firearms control, developing strategies and recommendations for improvement, and assisting in the implementation of these strategies. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and international partners, to ensure that the initiatives are aligned with national policies and international standards. The consultant is expected to have a strong understanding of gender issues, firearms legislation, and the socio-political context of North Macedonia, as well as experience in project management and capacity building.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current state of gender-based violence and firearms control in North Macedonia, including data collection and analysis.
Develop a strategic framework for addressing gender-based violence and firearms control, including actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to promote awareness and understanding of gender-based violence issues.
Provide technical assistance and capacity building to local partners in implementing gender-sensitive policies and practices.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, summarizing findings and recommendations.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of local stakeholders regarding gender-based violence and firearms control.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in gender issues, particularly in relation to gender-based violence and firearms control.
Strong analytical skills and experience in conducting assessments and evaluations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with international standards and best practices related to gender equality and violence prevention.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in social sciences, gender studies, law, public policy, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in gender-based violence prevention or firearms control will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in gender issues, particularly in the context of gender-based violence and firearms legislation. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in a similar capacity is highly desirable. Proven track record of successful project management and implementation is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Macedonian or Albanian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the consultant's work.

This position is a consultancy role and is expected to be full-time during the assignment period. The consultant will be required to submit proposals through the UNDP supplier portal, and any inquiries regarding the tender must be made through the portal's messaging functionality. Compensation will be based on the consultant's qualifications and experience, in accordance with UNDP's policies.
