Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries and has a mission to promote reproductive health and rights, and gender equality. The organization focuses on three transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA's strategic plan for 2022-2025 emphasizes the importance of addressing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women's and girls' access to sexual and reproductive health services, while also striving to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Key milestones include the inception report, training material finalization, process mapping, staff training, and the final report. The consultant will evaluate and map the Supply ChainManagement Unit's (SCMU) existing processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements. This includes developing a process reengineering study, introducing standard templates for process mapping, and utilizing techniques such as Kaizen/Lean and Six Sigma for process simplification. The ultimate goal is to streamline operations and enhance service delivery, ensuring that UNFPA can effectively achieve its mission of providing quality reproductive health services and supplies.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in process improvement or business analysis is required. The consultant should have proficiency in business process mapping, process optimization, and creating process diagrams. Familiarity with process mapping tools is essential, and experience in integrating digital solutions into re-engineered processes, such as ERP systems and advanced analytics, is considered an asset. Previous experience within international organizations and/or supply chain contexts is preferred, particularly in similar projects involving capacity building.
Languages: English is a mandatory requirement for this position, while proficiency in other UN languages is considered an asset. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication and engagement with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is set for a duration of 3 months, with an estimated commitment of 20 hours per week. The consultant will primarily work remotely but may need to visit UNFPA offices for key meetings and workshops.
