The Climate Club, launched at COP28, is an inclusive forum aimed at driving industrial decarbonization, currently comprising 43 members and growing, and is jointly hosted by the OECD and IEA.

Job Overview:
The Head of the Climate Club Secretariat will lead a team responsible for facilitating the Climate Club's operations and strategic initiatives. This role involves working closely with the Climate Club Co-Chairs and members to translate high-level strategic guidance into actionable plans. The Head will oversee the preparation of meetings and events, ensuring that the Climate Club's Work Programme is effectively implemented and developed in collaboration with partner institutions. The position requires strong leadership skills to manage a multinational team, foster relationships with stakeholders, and promote the Climate Club's work in international forums. The selected candidate will be expected to drive the Secretariat's activities, ensuring alignment with the Climate Club's strategic priorities and enhancing its impact on industrial decarbonization efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Strategy: Collaborate with the Climate Club Co-Chairs and members to develop strategic agendas, establish relationships, and translate guidance into daily activities. Prepare for Body of Members meetings and high-level events, ensuring informed discussions through effective briefing materials. Drive the implementation of the Climate Club's Work Programme in partnership with relevant institutions.
  • Management: Oversee the Climate Club Secretariat's functions, establish operational structures, and manage communication among members and relevant bodies. Lead and develop a small, diverse team, fostering a high-performance environment and ensuring effective resource management in line with budgetary rules.
  • Representation and Liaison: Build relationships with international organizations, foundations, and the private sector to promote the Climate Club's work. Represent the Climate Club in international forums and conduct relationship-building with government representatives and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as economics, law, international relations, political sciences, or environmental policy. A minimum of eight years of management-level experience in areas related to industrial decarbonization, climate action, or energy transition is required. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience in organizing international meetings, managing multidisciplinary teams, and navigating complex political environments. Proven capabilities in fundraising and sensitivity to political issues are essential, along with strong intercultural communication skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced university degree in relevant disciplines, including but not limited to economics, law, international relations, political sciences, or environmental and energy policy. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the Climate Club's work and the broader context of international cooperation on climate issues.

Experience:
The position requires at least eight years of extensive practical knowledge and experience at a management level within national administrations or international organizations. Candidates should have a proven track record in managing teams, organizing international meetings, and engaging with high-level stakeholders in the context of industrial decarbonization and climate action. Experience in budget management and fundraising is also highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, with a willingness to learn the other language. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners.

  • The OECD offers a competitive salary starting from 9,610 EUR per month, plus allowances based on eligibility, exempt from French income tax.
