Job Overview: The OECD Centre for Responsible Business Conduct is seeking an experienced professional to lead its work programme on responsible supply chains in the garment and footwear sector. The manager will oversee a small team of policy analysts and report directly to the Head of Due Diligence. This role involves working in a multinational and multicultural environment, engaging with senior policymakers, regulatory authorities, business representatives, industry initiatives, trade unions, and other stakeholders globally. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting strategic directions, managing team outputs, and contributing to the Centre's engagement with various stakeholders to promote responsible business conduct practices in the garment and footwear supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager include setting the strategic direction for the work on responsible garment supply chains, leading and quality controlling all key outputs of the garment team, and managing the performance and professional development of team members. The manager will also track policy developments, conduct research on due diligence practices, draft policy advice, and formulate recommendations based on good practices and OECD standards. Additionally, the role involves engaging with policymakers in OECD and non-OECD countries, liaising with relevant OECD directorates, and representing the OECD at international forums and expert meetings. The manager will also be responsible for strengthening relationships with donors and fundraising for garment sector work.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess an advanced university degree in a relevant subject such as business administration, political sciences, law, economics, international relations, or development. A focus on sustainability in international business, investment, and trade is advantageous. The candidate must have a minimum of seven years of experience in sustainable business, preferably within the garment and footwear industry, or relevant experience from government institutions, international organizations, trade unions, civil society organizations, research institutes, or consultancy. A strong understanding of OECD standards on due diligence, particularly the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct, is also a significant advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have an advanced university degree in a relevant field. Studies that focus on policy related to sustainability in international business, investment, and trade would be an advantage. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of responsible business conduct and the regulatory frameworks that govern it.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of professional experience in the field of sustainable business, ideally within the garment and footwear industry. Experience in other industries or from government institutions, international organizations, trade unions, civil society organizations, research institutes, or consultancy is also relevant. Candidates with experience in implementing supply chain sustainability within a business function will have a significant advantage.
Languages: Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, along with knowledge of the other language, with a commitment to reach a good working level. This bilingual requirement is crucial for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The closing date for applications is midnight on 7 March 2025 (Paris time). The position is a 12-month fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of 36 months. The monthly salary starts at 7,955.19 euros, plus allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax.
