Job Overview: The OECD Centre for Responsible Business Conduct is seeking an experienced professional to lead its work programme on responsible supply chains in the garment and footwear sector. This role involves managing a small team of policy analysts and reporting directly to the Head of Due Diligence. The successful candidate will operate in a multinational and multicultural environment, engaging with senior policymakers, regulatory authorities, business representatives, industry initiatives, trade unions, and other stakeholders globally. The position requires strategic direction setting, stakeholder engagement, and global outreach to promote responsible business conduct practices in the garment and footwear supply chains.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Manager will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the work on responsible garment supply chains, leading and quality controlling all key outputs of the garment team, including publications and organizing the annual OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector. The manager will performance manage the team, contribute to their professional development, and engage with stakeholders from various sectors to drive responsible business conduct practices. Additionally, the role includes tracking policy developments, conducting research on due diligence practices, drafting policy advice, and formulating recommendations based on good practices and OECD standards. The manager will also develop and conduct capacity-building workshops and maintain professional contacts with relevant stakeholders, representing the OECD at key international forums.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in a relevant subject such as business administration, political sciences, law, economics, international relations, or development. Studies focused on sustainability in international business, investment, and trade are advantageous. A minimum of seven years of experience in sustainable business, particularly in the garment and footwear industry, is required. Experience in other industries or from government institutions, international organizations, trade unions, civil society organizations, research institutes, or consultancy is also relevant. A strong understanding of OECD standards on due diligence, particularly the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct, is a significant advantage.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in a relevant field is required. Candidates with studies focused on sustainability in international business, investment, and trade will have an advantage. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the position, emphasizing policy-related aspects of sustainability.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of professional experience in sustainable business practices, ideally within the garment and footwear industry. Experience in implementing supply chain sustainability within a business function is highly desirable. Candidates with experience from various sectors, including government, international organizations, and civil society, will also be considered. A strong understanding of OECD standards and practices related to responsible business conduct is essential.
Languages: Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, along with knowledge of the other language. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to achieving a good working level in the second language.
Additional Notes: The closing date for applications is 7 March 2025, and the position is a 12-month fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to 36 months. The monthly salary starts at €7,955.19, plus allowances based on eligibility, and is exempt from French income tax.
